Cooper on track to make cut at US Amateur
Brianna Cooper of Kincardine, Ontario shot 73 (+2) today and was well inside the projected cut line at the 111th U.S. Women's Amateur Championship. The 19-year-old Illinois State University golfer was sitting in a tie for 27th at 7:23 p.m. today (Aug. 9) with a +2 total while the projected cut was +7. Cooper posted the best result among the 5 Canadians who are expected to make the cut. The next best score by a Canadian was from Jennifer Kirby, who shot 75-70 for a +3 total. The top 64 golfers now move onto match play tomorrow. The event is being held from Aug. 8-14 at Rhode Island Country Club in Barrington, RI.
